How long does a session last?

My goal is to ensure you get the very best from your portrait experience.  Sessions are never rushed and can last anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours.

What is the best time for a session?

I shoot exclusively with natural light so session times are planned accordingly –  early morning and late afternoon are ideal.

What does my session fee pay for?

Your session fee covers the time and talent of the photographer, basic image editing, and a secure online gallery for your image selection.

What happens after my session?

Approximately two-three weeks following your session, 25 to 30 of the best images from your session will be uploaded to a secure online gallery for you to view and purchase. The online gallery will be available for 7 days; after the expiration date there will be a $35 file retrieval fee for gallery to be re-loaded.  Any images not order within 6 weeks will be purged.

When is payment due?

The session fee is due upon booking and is non-refundable. Payment for product orders is due at the time of the order.

What methods of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, paypal and personal checks. Your image order will not be processed until the bank has cleared your check. Personal checks for session fees must be provided no less than 10 days prior to your session date.

Where will my session take place?

I shoot exclusively on location. I can come to your home; we can go to a park, or local attraction. We will collectively choose a location that is familiar and comfortable for you and your family. Travel outside of the Houston area will require additional fees. Please contact me for additional information.

What should we wear?

My sessions are casual and your attire should reflect your lifestyle. I want you and your family to be comfortable and clothing is the first step.  Keep clothing simple, avoid white, and stay away from any clothing with written logos.  Favorites are layered outfits, bare feet, and babies in their birthday suits.  If there is more than one child, outfits can be coordinated, but they don’t necessary to have them matching.

What is the best time during pregnancy for a maternity session?

I recommend that expectant mothers arrange their session between the 32nd and 36th week of pregnancy. This timeframe will allow you to be noticeably pregnant, but not so far advanced that the shoot will be uncomfortable. Please feel free to contact me at any point during your pregnancy to discuss a session.

When should I expect with a newborn session?

Your brand new baby is best captured as early as possible; usually within the first 2 to 14 days.  At this stage they are in that deep sleep stage, and still able to sleep in that “fetal” position.  A lot of preparation and patience goes into these sessions.

Contact me before you deliver.  Time goes fast after delivery so make sure and get everything scheduled before life turns upside down.

I like to do these sessions in your home, where we can work with baby’s schedule.  It’s not uncommon for the session with a newborn to last 3-4 hours, allowing plenty of time to feed and comfort.  Newborns photograph best in their birthday suits so we will need a lot of wipes on hand.  Naked babies equal wetness.  You will want to dress light, as we will be using a small heater to warm our shooting area.

What if one of us is sick on the day of the session?

In the event of an illness, I kindly ask that you reschedule your session. Children who are sick will have difficulty sitting for a session. The result will be disappointing, as the finished images will show the child’s state of health. I will work with you to rebook the session.

What happens if I need to cancel my session?

I understand that events in our lives can create scheduling conflict; if you need to cancel your session I will work with you to rebook if possible. Your session fee is non-refundable, but I am happy to transfer it to a new date within 60 days of your cancelled session.
